1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to every website we design, build, host, or serve, to the contact forms and email relay we provide, and to anyone who uses those services. It is part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meaning given there.
2. Prohibited content & use
We may decline or discontinue service to any prospective or existing client, at our sole discretion and without obligation to provide a reason, subject to applicable law.
You may not use the service, and your Site may not contain, promote, facilitate, or link to:
- Illegal activity — anything that violates applicable federal, state, or local law, or that facilitates it.
- Intellectual-property infringement — text, images, logos, fonts, video, or music you do not have the right to use; counterfeit goods; trademark misuse.
- Fraud & deception — scams, phishing, fake reviews or credentials, deceptive pricing or claims, impersonation of a person or business, "get-rich-quick," pyramid or multi-level-marketing recruitment.
- Malware & abuse — viruses, malicious scripts, credential harvesting, or code that interferes with a device or network.
- Spam — using the site, its forms, or our email relay to send unsolicited bulk or commercial messages.
- Adult & harmful content — pornography or sexually explicit material; content that sexualizes minors (which we also report to authorities); extreme violence or gore.
- Hate & harassment — content that incites violence against or dehumanizes people based on a protected characteristic; targeted harassment; threats; doxxing.
- Regulated goods & services — firearms, ammunition, explosives, illegal drugs or paraphernalia, prescription drugs without authorization, tobacco or vaping sales to consumers, online gambling, payday lending, or similar, except where you hold every required license and comply with every applicable rule.
- Cannabis & controlled substances — cannabis, CBD, or other controlled-substance cultivation, dispensary, delivery, or sales businesses. We decline these outright, including where state-legal, since cannabis remains illegal under U.S. federal law and is restricted by our payment processor.
- Political & religious advocacy — websites built specifically to advance a political campaign or cause, or to promote or proselytize a religious viewpoint, as a matter of business focus. (A church, temple, or ministry's ordinary business site — service times, location, staff, donations — is fine; a site whose purpose is political or religious advocacy is not.)
- High-risk claims — unproven health, medical, financial, or legal claims; crisis or emergency services that imply real-time response the site cannot provide.
- Mishandled sensitive data — collecting health information (HIPAA), payment card data (PCI), Social Security numbers, or other sensitive data through the Site, which our simple sites are not built to handle.
- Cryptocurrency & speculative finance — token sales, mining schemes, unregistered securities, or high-risk investment solicitation.
- Defamation & privacy violations — false statements that harm a person or business; publishing someone's private information without a lawful basis.
Expressive content. As a matter of sincerely held belief, we decline to create certain custom expressive content — including content celebrating or promoting a wedding, marriage, engagement, or similar relationship milestone — where doing so would require us to convey a message contrary to those beliefs. This applies to the requested content itself, not to the individual or business requesting it; we serve clients of any background, orientation, or belief for general business websites.
3. Email & form abuse
The contact / enquiry forms on your Site and the email we send on your behalf are for one-to-one, expected, transactional communication with people who contacted you. You may not use them for marketing blasts, list rental, purchased lists, or any bulk sending. You are responsible for complying with the CAN-SPAM Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and any applicable state law when you follow up with a lead.
4. Security & resource abuse
You may not attempt to probe, scan, or breach our systems; circumvent rate limits or authentication; overload the service; scrape it at scale; resell hosting; or use the Site to attack a third party.
5. Your responsibility
You are responsible for everything on your Site and for how visitors and end users interact with it, including third parties you allow to submit content or that you direct us to add. Keeping legally required disclosures, licenses, and policies current on your Site is your responsibility (see Terms §7).
6. How we enforce this
If we believe a Site or use violates this AUP, creates legal or security risk, or is the subject of a credible complaint, we may — with or without notice, depending on severity — remove specific content, suspend the Site, or terminate the service. For serious or repeated violations we may terminate immediately and without refund. We may also report unlawful content to law enforcement. We are not obligated to monitor sites but may act on what we become aware of.
7. Report a violation
To report content or conduct that may violate this policy, email abuse@99websites.co with the URL and a description. For copyright specifically, use our DMCA process.
