How a 99Websites site gets made

The whole process, start to finish — what to put in the questionnaire, how your review round works, what "fully managed" actually means, and the honest answer to whether this is the right tool for your business.

The order, start to finish

You're hands-on at the beginning and the end. We do everything in between. Most projects go from questionnaire to launched in about a week.

1

You fill out the questionnaire

A short guided form — your business, the sections you want on the page, your style, colors, and any sites you like. Takes about 10–15 minutes if you have your details handy. See the field-by-field guide below.

You · ~10–15 min

2

You pay

Checkout is right after the questionnaire: $198 today — the $99 one-time build plus the first year of hosting. Hosting renews at $99/year and you can cancel any time. We don't start designing until payment clears.

3

We design and build it

Your brief goes into our proprietary design system — the components, build tooling and quality checks we've built in-house — and a designer reviews, refines and signs off on the result before it reaches your portal. Layout, copywriting, photography, mobile, SEO basics, contact form, the works. You don't need to do anything at this stage.

You review the preview

You get a private link to your finished draft in your client portal — the real, live site, on every device. Look it over and tell us what to change: wording, photos, colors, section order. How to request changes.

We make your revisions

One full revision round is included. Send all your notes at once and we apply them, then send the updated preview back for a final look.

You approve — we launch

Give the thumbs up and we publish it — on your own domain if you have one, or one we register and connect for you. From then on it's live, hosted, backed up and monitored, and you request edits through the portal.

You approve, we launch

Filling out the questionnaire

This is the single biggest thing that decides how good your first draft is. Your site is built from what you write here — so the more specific and complete you are, the less back-and-forth later.

Vague in, generic out. "Modern and clean, like Apple" produces a generic site. "We're a family plumbing company in Sacramento, 22 years, known for same-day service and no surprise pricing — friendly but professional, navy and orange" produces your site. Write like you're briefing a person, because you are.

Business name & what you do required

Your name, your trade or industry, and where you operate. If you serve a whole region rather than one address, say so.

GoodRivera & Sons Plumbing — residential plumbing, Sacramento and the surrounding county. Family-run since 2002.
Too vaguePlumber

Your goal & who it's for

Tell us what the site is meant to do and who should feel spoken to. This is a free-text box — use it. Anything you type here outweighs the tick-boxes if they ever disagree.

GoodMost of our work is emergency call-outs. The site needs to get a nervous homeowner to call us fast, and make us look established and honest — not a fly-by-night. Also want to start attracting bathroom-remodel jobs.
Too vagueGet more customers.

Sections you want on the page

It's one scrolling page with a short menu (1–3 links) that jumps to sections. Pick the sections that matter — e.g. Services, About, Reviews, FAQ, Contact. Don't have testimonials yet? Leave that section off; we won't invent fake ones.

Style & reference sites

Link 2–3 sites you like and say what you like about each — the type, the boldness, the colors, the photography, the overall feel. A good reference is worth a paragraph of description. Then add your own notes: formal or friendly? Bold or restrained? Lots of photos or type-led?

GoodLike the big confident type and lots of white space on [link]. Like the warm photography on [link]. We want to feel premium but approachable — not corporate.
Too vagueMake it look nice / modern.

Brand colors

Your colors if you have them (hex codes are ideal, names are fine). No brand yet? Say the mood — "warm and earthy", "clean blues", "black and one bold accent" — and we'll choose a palette and check the contrast.

Do you have copy and photos ready?

If yes, upload or paste it and we'll shape it. If no, that's fine — we write the copy from your answers and use licensed stock photography that fits your trade. Either way the first draft comes back fully written; nothing is left blank.

Uploading images

Attach files directly in the questionnaire (and later in your portal). What helps:

  • Logo — PNG or SVG with a transparent background is best; a high-res JPG works. If you don't have one we'll set your name in type.
  • Photos — your own photos of the work, the team, the space or the product almost always beat stock. JPG or PNG, as large as you have (we resize them). Landscape orientation is most flexible.
  • Rough is OK — a phone photo of your storefront or a finished job is more useful than a perfect stock image of someone else's.
  • No images at all? Leave it blank and we'll source photography for you.

Contact details — two kinds

The form asks for your contact info (so we can reach you about the project) and separately the public contact info that goes on the website and into the site's business listing / map. Tick "same as mine" if they're identical; otherwise give the business email, phone and address customers should see. Give us a real address only if you actually want a map — a home-based or remote business can skip it.

Anything else

Hours, service area, what makes you different, awards or certifications (real ones — we won't publish anything we can't stand behind), things to avoid, a competitor whose site you don't like and why. All useful.

Your review round

When your preview is ready you get an email with a link to your portal. The preview is the actual site, not a mockup.

How to request changes

In the portal there's a "Request changes" box. Write your notes as a plain list — be specific about where and what:

  • Wording — "Change the headline to '…'", "the About paragraph should mention we're licensed and bonded", "tighten the services copy, it's wordy".
  • Photos — "swap the hero photo for the one I'm uploading", "the third gallery image is too dark", "use a photo of a kitchen instead of a bathroom".
  • Colors & type — "the orange is too bright, go a shade deeper", "headlines feel small".
  • Layout — "move Reviews above Services", "drop the FAQ section", "the hero feels cramped".

You can attach new images right there with your notes. Send everything in one pass if you can — that's what the included revision round covers.

What's included vs. what needs a quote

One full revision round — content edits, image swaps, color and type adjustments, section reordering, adding or removing a section — is included in the $99. A different site (new structure, a redesign, extra pages, custom features like booking or a shop) isn't a revision; we'll give you a quick flat quote first. More on that below.

Approving

When you're happy, click Approve & launch. If you asked for changes, you'll get one more preview to check before you approve. Once approved we publish, usually the same day.

"One page" — what that means

Every $99 site is a single scrolling page. It can be long and have many sections; the menu links jump down to them. It's the right shape for most small businesses and it's what keeps the price at $99. Genuinely need separate pages? Ask for a quote.

There's no login — on purpose

99Websites is a fully managed service. There is no CMS, no admin dashboard, no WordPress, nothing to log into and nothing to break.

We design, build, host and maintain the site on our own infrastructure. That's how we keep every site fast, secure, backed up and consistent — and how we keep the price low. You get a client portal, but it's for tracking your project, seeing your live site, handling billing, and sending us change requests — not for editing the site yourself.

Making changes after launch

While you're hosting with us, you send content and small design changes through the portal any time — swap a photo, edit text, update your hours, change a phone number, add a testimonial, tweak a color. We make them for you, usually within one to two business days. This is included in your $99/year under fair use.

Fair use means the kind of upkeep a small site actually needs — think "swap this photo" and "update our winter hours", not "redesign the homepage every month" or "add ten new sections". If a request is really a new project, we'll say so and quote it.

You don't want to host with us?

Then this isn't the right service. We don't hand over raw files or deploy to third-party hosts — the build and the hosting go together. If that's a dealbreaker, tell us before you order.

Your legal pages

We add a standard privacy policy and terms page to your site as general templates. Keeping them accurate for your specific business is your responsibility — send us any wording your lawyer or your situation requires and we'll apply it.

Changes, quotes & refunds

Small changes vs. flat-quote work

Ongoing upkeep (text, photos, hours, links, a new testimonial, minor styling) is included under fair use. Bigger work gets a quick flat quote you approve before anything starts — for example a new section built from scratch, a structural redesign, seasonal landing content, or a feature the $99 site doesn't include.

Features that aren't in the $99

The $99 build is one page with copy, photos, a contact form and SEO basics. A second page and a booking-calendar embed are quick self-serve add-ons you can buy right from your dashboard once your site is live — no need to email anyone. Bigger things — a store or payments, a login area, a blog or news feed, multi-language, or a custom integration — are still quoted separately. Ask and we'll price them.

“I need 5 or more real pages”

That's a custom project, not a $99 one-pager — and yes, you can absolutely request a quote. Email hello@99websites.co with what you have in mind (how many pages, roughly what each one is for) and we'll come back with a fixed price and timeline. Same team, same quality bar, same managed hosting. (Just need one extra page, not five? That's the $49 self-serve add-on above — buy it from your dashboard instead of waiting on a quote.)

Refunds

If the first draft misses and we can't make it right within your revision round, you're covered — the build fee is refundable under the terms in our Refund Policy. Once a site is approved and launched, the build is delivered; hosting can be cancelled any time and isn't pro-rated. The Refund Policy is the authority on the specifics; read it before you order if this matters to you.

Is this for every business?

Honestly, no — and we'd rather tell you up front than take an order that won't work out.

A great fit

Local service businesses and trades, restaurants and cafes, clinics and practices, salons and studios, consultants and small agencies, tradespeople, real-estate agents, contractors — anyone who needs one strong, credible page that gets people to call, book or visit. If a single well-made page would do the job, this is built for you.

Works — with the right expectations

Design-led businesses (designers, architects, photographers, premium real estate) get our editorial treatment and it can look excellent — but you'll want to bring your own strong photography and lean on the reference sites. Businesses with a lot to say may find one page tight; ask about a multi-page quote.

Not the right tool — talk to us first

You need a real online store, a booking system, member logins, a CMS you update daily, or a large multi-section marketing site. You want to host it elsewhere or get the source files. You need it live tomorrow. Any of these — email us before ordering and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help or point you elsewhere.
